Privacy Policy

A transparent explanation of how Baxis handles user authentication, profile data, wallet interactions, escrow metadata, and public blockchain visibility.

Effective Date: August 2026 • Version 1.0

1. Introduction

Baxis Protocol ("Baxis", "we", "our") is a non-custodial Web3 escrow platform. Baxis provides the decentralized trust infrastructure that allows strangers on the internet to safely negotiate digital agreements, lock milestone deposits, submit deliverables, and resolve disputes on-chain.

We are committed to operational transparency and data minimization. This Privacy Policy details what information is processed when you access Baxis applications, connect an EVM wallet, or participate in escrow agreements.

Core Non-Custodial Security Principle

Baxis will never ask for, store, or have access to your wallet's private keys or seed recovery phrases. You retain complete sovereignty over your crypto assets at all times.

2. Information We Collect

To deliver non-custodial escrow services, Baxis collects and processes specific data categories required for workspace functionality, database security, and on-chain contract coordination.

3. Profile Information

When you register or sign in using Supabase Auth, we process your email address, unique user identification numbers (UUID), and optional profile metadata (such as display handles or avatars) stored in our database.

4. Wallet Addresses

When you connect an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible wallet (such as MetaMask) to Baxis, we log your public wallet address (`0x...`). This address is used to associate active escrows with your workspace and verify your signature during on-chain transactions.

5. Escrow Data

When an escrow agreement is generated, Baxis stores the off-chain agreement metadata required to render your workspace.

Agreement Scope

Agreement title, deliverable description, milestone deposit amount, and currency token (e.g., USDC).

Party Identifiers

The depositor (client) and beneficiary (freelancer) wallet addresses or Supabase user IDs.

Inspection Window

Selected auto-release timelock duration (ranging from 24 hours to 90 days).

Contract State

On-chain status tags (`FUNDED`, `SUBMITTED`, `RELEASED`, `DISPUTED`, `RESOLVED`).

6. Dispute Evidence Submissions

If a party opens an official dispute, both participants submit written justifications and evidence files (PNG, JPG, PDF) through the escrow workspace. Evidence files are uploaded directly to private storage buckets and associated with the unique dispute ID.

7. How Information Is Used

Processed data is used strictly for platform operation and security enforcement:

  • Authentication: Verifying user access to protected workspace routes and dashboard analytics.
  • Escrow Lifecycle Management: Constructing smart contract calldata, monitoring inspection timelocks, and rendering live updates.
  • Arbitration & Dispute Review: Enabling platform arbitrators to review uploaded proof assets and execute binding on-chain settlements.
  • Security Auditing: Recording administrative actions in immutable audit logs to prevent privilege abuse.

8. Blockchain Transparency & Public Ledger

Public Ledger Notice

Transactions submitted to the Base network or connected EVM blockchains are published to a public ledger. On-chain data—including public wallet addresses, vault deposit amounts, transaction hashes, and resolution states—is permanently visible to the open web and cannot be altered or removed.

9. Data Storage & Security

Baxis uses Supabase PostgreSQL database infrastructure and Supabase Storage for off-chain metadata.

Private evidence storage is protected at the database layer using PostgreSQL **Row Level Security (RLS)** policies. Evidence files are restricted strictly to agreement participants (client and freelancer) and verified platform arbitrators.

10. Cookies & Local Storage

Baxis does not use third-party advertising tracking cookies or cross-site behavioral analytics. Essential session tokens (Supabase Auth JWTs) and interface preference states (such as sidebar toggle status) are persisted locally in browser `localStorage`.

11. Third-Party Infrastructure Services

Baxis interfaces with trusted Web3 and cloud infrastructure providers:

  • Supabase Inc.: Cloud database, authentication, and encrypted object storage.
  • Base Network (Coinbase L2): Blockchain smart contract execution and settlement layer.
  • EVM Wallet Extensions: Wallet software (e.g., MetaMask) used to sign and relay transactions.

12. Data Retention

Off-chain account data and escrow metadata are retained while your account is active. Evidence files associated with resolved disputes are archived securely for audit compliance. Public on-chain smart contract logs persist indefinitely on the underlying blockchain network.

13. User Rights

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your off-chain account data stored in our Supabase database by contacting our legal team. Deletion of off-chain data cannot alter or wipe immutable transactions committed to the blockchain.

14. Children's Privacy

Baxis services are strictly intended for users who are at least 18 years of age or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

15. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy as protocol architecture evolves. Updates will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
